A spectacular cottage with massive brick fireplaces, a jewel box that adjoins the formal gardens at the Wythe Estate. 2 bedrooms with one king bed and one queen and one queen sleeper sofa. 1 bath. Sleeps 2 adults & 2 children – Located on INOLA Property
The gorgeous Peacock Cottage is part of the replica of the Colonial Williamsburg Wythe estate. The cottage borders formal English gardens. It has two massive fireplaces and brick Herringbone floors. You can feel the history & comfort.
This adorable cottage was originally built as a copy of the Wythe House’s kitchen. Due to the threat of fire the kitchens were detached in colonial great houses. Normally they were separated by 30-40 feet. This also kept heat from the kitchen away from the main house which was important in the summer. The originator of the estate and village, Mr. Thomas Jones once had colonial cooking sessions here with his friends.

The perfect getaway for us
This was the perfect getaway for us (two adults and a puppy!) We found the cottage a truly delightful and restful way to unwind and get into the holiday spirit! The grounds are amazing and so unique! Being from Virginia originally, we loved living in a Williamsburg-inspired locale. You can walk around the entire property, including a little maze in the forest, the lake, some of the buildings on the property, and more! It was so much fun to take daily walks even in the winter! The huge fireplaces and rustic/original finishes were so cozy! When we stayed it was below freezing yet we stayed toasty warm. I thought for sure we were going to be freezing overnight but the heaters and fireplaces put out a sufficient amount of heat! There are some super cozy furry blankets and candles that helped us get right into relaxation mode!

The Wythe House in Williamsburg, Virginia belonged to George Wythe (pronounced “with”), a leader of the patriot movement in Virginia, a delegate to the Continental Congress, and Virginia’s first signer of the Declaration of Independence. The house also served as General George Washington's headquarters just before the British siege of Yorktown, and French General Rochambeau made the home his headquarters after victory at Yorktown. In 1776, the house accommodated Virginia General Assembly delegate Thomas Jefferson and his family.
Our replica of the Wythe House can soon be rented as individual units. It will also be possible to rent the complete mansion. This is ideal for weddings, events, and special family occasions.
